As a first time home buyer who was also buying an investment property, I had a meagar foundation in real estate but an intense desire to learn absolutely everything about the process. My goal is to own dozens of properties across the world and rent them / flip them so I wanted to know the in’s and out’s of every step along the way. I started my hunt for a property with an old acquaintance from high school and quickly found that we didn’t have the right communication styles and work ethic to get the job done. I met Emily Marentette at an open house and was immediately impressed with her professionalism, communication, organizational effectiveness and attitude towards her job. We must have seen 3 dozen properties, put offers on at least a dozen before we found the perfect one. Because of the stipulations of my loan (Veterans Affairs) I wasn’t able to be quite as competitive as some of the people I was bidding against and when I finally found someone willing to work with me but I got cold feet about the numbers, she didn’t push me to pull the trigger, she was patient and listened and was completely willing to go back to the drawing board. As a business owner and a seasoned salesman myself, I NEVER got the impression that Emily was trying to push me towards a property or convince me to do something I wasn’t comfortable with. As someone with many different demands for my time, I REALLY appreciate someone who is organized and methodical about their communications. Emily was constantly adjusting her work flow to make it easier for me to understand all the information and make an educated decision. She also negotiated very effectively and got the sellers to cover half of my closing costs and buy me a home warranty! Which was CRAZY in the intense sellers market we were in at the time.
